Just outside of Columbia, Missouri on day three of the trip. Today I had planned on pulling into Denver but because of a small medical issue I spent another day in Charlotte, NC. As inquiring minds are asking, what medical issue might this be? Believe or not, I woke up yesterday morning unable to walk with an extremely swollen big toe. As an attorney, I am well qualified to make medical diagnosis based on Googling "swollen big toe." My professional training led me to a diagnosis of gout, which the very able doctor at a walk-in medical clinic confirmed. Unfortunately, apart from what may be a genetic predisposition, excessive consumption of two food groups increase the chances of a gout attack. 1. Beer; 2. Meat. D'oh.
Apart from an attack of Rich Man's Disease, today I managed to eclipse my previous one-day driving record of 675 miles, by clocking 816 miles.
Today's scenery was unremarkable so I do not have any pictures to publish. I assure you more high-quality pictures will follow. And as some of my friends can testify, I aspire to National Geographic quality photos. Hopefully, I'll be able to live up to my photographic reputation.
